Time for a dental check-up?

It’s true that we all need regular dental exams to maintain our oral health. But what exactly is a dental exam? Simply put, it’s a way for you and your dentist to evaluate how well you’re taking care of your teeth and gums. And besides preventing cavities, gum disease, and other oral issues, dental exams can also help you avoid more serious problems down the road like losing teeth or having part of your jaw removed due to infection from periodontal disease. So remember: Get those regular checkups!

Dental exams are important to maintain your oral health.

A dental exam is a part of preventive dental care, and it can help detect and treat tooth decay and gum disease before they become serious. Dental exams also screen for oral cancer, which can be detected early with regular checkups.

Your dentist is going to want to know about the condition of your gums and teeth, as well as any changes that may have occurred in your mouth since the last time you were in the office.

If you have any new problems or concerns, it’s important for them to know about these right away so they can help address them before they become bigger issues. It’s also important for them to know if there are any new medications that could affect your oral health (for example, some antibiotics can cause dry mouth).

The dentist will also want to look at your bite and make sure your jaw joints are working properly.

Your La Jolla dentist will also want to look at your bite and make sure your jaw joints are working properly. The way that you bite can affect how healthy your teeth and gums are, so it’s important to keep an eye on this during regular dental exams.

If you have any questions about why or how the dentist checks for proper alignment in the mouth, feel free to ask!

Exams may include an x-ray examination of each tooth.

An x-ray examination is a quick and painless way to see inside your mouth. X-rays are used to look for cavities, tooth decay, bone loss and other problems. In addition, they can also be used to find hidden dental problems that may not be visible during an exam.

In addition, your dentist will also brush over how you’re taking care of your teeth and gums at home, including eating habits, flossing habits and whether or not you floss at all!

Flossing is important because it prevents gum disease. When plaque builds up on your teeth it can harden into tartar (also known as calculus) which is difficult to remove by brushing alone. If left untreated, this can lead to cavities or even tooth loss as well as cause bad breath!

We look forward to seeing you soon at Open Wide La Jolla!

So, if you haven’t had a dental exam in a while, don’t worry! Dr. Chad Dains is here to help you and make sure that everything is okay. He explains everything during the exam so that you know what’s happening at all times – this way there won’t be any surprises when it comes time for your next visit!
